Zion National Park

This is our day in Zion National Park. The sign says "leaving", thats because we missed the sign upon entering.

Both Kay and I agreed that this place was “way more amazing” then we even could of imagined.  The pictures can not do it justice, but I will try

Just upon entering the Park, I noticed this tree up on a mountaintop. I have a thing for old wind blown trees. Someday I will have to use my good camera as so far all my pictures on the blog are just from my Samsung S7

As you enter the Park from the South the first thing you see is the Checker board mountain which is what many folks relate Zion to as it is used in many Zion ads.

It’s almost like being on another planet.

This is the short one

This is the long one

Which usually has a wait due to the escorted big rigs

Coming up on a “window” (the light ahead which is the rock cut out for air vents, which make for a really cool view)

Drive by shot of the “Window”
and out we go
going out of the long one.

The best way to see the beautiful valley in Zion is to take the free bus system. It runs every 8-12 minutes and has many stops you can get on and off as you wish. Each stop has hikes and different things to do.

At the last stop is the access to what they call the “Narrows”. It is a mile or so hike on paved trail then you get into the river and hike up many miles in the river. The farther you go, the deeper you are in the water and the walls get very close.

The hike was really nice and so much to see and appreciate.

Close your eyes, listen to the water drip from the mountain cliffs down to the valley floor over some flowers…….

I climbed out on the river rocks and we took pictures of each other

The trail….and my babe…..

This is the end of the paved trail, now this is where the serious hikers start up in the river bed. I bet it is a beautiful trip,

Off they go…..

Kay deciding on moving forward or not 🙂

Signs posted everywhere saying do not feed the animals. They are so brave, we saw one man accidentally step on one. This one was at my feet begging for food. Think he needs it?
20160830_134135
Just some old wood but it looked like some sort of horns or antlers…..
20160830_134155
Hiking down the trail you see a whole new perspective

I love the trees on top of the mountains. (Did I mention that before?)

The view as we left the trail and headed back to the buses to take us back to the village…..

Back at the village there was a cute little brew and food . Looking up from the outside bar

20160830_162205
Looking our from the outside seating of the bar….not a bad place to rest after a hike and have a cold one…..

And finally just before leaving the park, Kay was so excited to see the Big Horn sheep

Tomorrow we will be heading to Lake Powell………
